Rio Coco Cafe
The Rio Coco Café is a comfortable gathering place for old friends and new, where we serve the finest fresh roasted coffee, as well as nutritious breakfasts and lunches, and home baked muffins, brownies, cookies, and other delicious delights.
Espresso drinks, Pourovers, French Press coffee, specialty teas, and fruit smoothies headline our drink menu.
Rio Coco Café is a non-profit business whose profits are sent to educate Miskito Indian children along the Rio Coco in Northeastern Nicaragua.
Our first café open on the Caribbean island of Utila Honduras in the summer of 2011. Utila is a mecca for scuba diving, and visitors arrive each day from Europe, Israel, Australia, South America, Canada, Asia, and the United States. We serve them all at our seaside location on “The Point” on the south end of Utila. Each day you will hear local Utilians, as well as many of these international travelers enjoying their coffee and food at the Rio Coco Café Utila. TripAdvisor.com says that the Rio Coco Café is one of the top restaurants on the island.
Our next café opened at the Vero Beach Florida Airport in December of 2011. Vero Beach is a tourist destination along the southern Atlantic coast, south of Orlando and Melbourne. It also serves as one of the premier pilot training sites in the world with two major flight schools, Flight Safety International and Paris Air, that attract students from Europe, Asia, The Middle East, Canada, and the United States.
The Vero Rio Coco Café is also the site of the Rio Coco Bean Roastery. Twice a week we roast coffee from 10 different countries (Ethiopia, Colombia, Nicaragua, Honduras, Timor, Sumatra, Papau New Guinea, Mexico, and Maui) and ship coffee to our café on Utila, as well as to many friends across the United States and Canada.
Our next café will be located in Radford Virginia, a college town located in the mountains of Southwestern Virginia. Plans are for a fall of 2015 opening. Stay tuned for details.
Our cafes are staffed by volunteers who give freely of their time to help with our community outreach and fundraising for our school project in Nicaragua.
